Doylestown Township Secures Grant to Extend New Britain Trail into Doylestown, Labs Says
11/23/2021
HARRISBURG – Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks) and Sen. Steve Santarsiero (D-10) announced Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) funding in the amount of $686,000 has been awarded to Doylestown Township to improve connections between schools and parks by lengthening the New Britain Road Trail.

“The expansion of the trail will allow additional outdoor opportunities for residents by joining Doylestown Township with neighboring communities,” Labs said. “I am happy to support this grant to ensure our community here in Doylestown continues to grow and connect through these recreational enhancements.”

Doylestown Township has received a $686,000 Pennsylvania multimodal transportation grant to extend the New Britain Road Trail. Currently, the trail runs from Central Park to Rolling Hill Boulevard, with plans to connect the trail near Warden Road by placing bike lanes across the New Britain Bridge over Route 611.

“During the pandemic we have seen record numbers of people choosing the outdoors for recreation and activity, placing additional emphasis on the need for access to multi-use trails in our area,” said Santarsiero. “I am proud to help secure these funds, to provide recreational, environmental and economic benefit to Doylestown Township’s residents and visitors. Doylestown Township residents have access through the extensive trail network to neighborhoods and developments as walkers, runners and cyclists. The expansion of the New Britain Road Trail will provide additional access and pathways to further expand the trail network and bring additional communities together.”

The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer the Commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
